What Should I Do?

As I mentioned in my previous post, right now I am having three weeks off. Today is just the second day of my vacation. I found it so so boring for such a long vacation. In fact, I really like having many days off, but this one is too long, I consider because I have nothing to do for this period besides staying home. In contrast, if I had something interesting to do, I would enjoy this vacation so much, and it would be a very short one. For the first two days of my vacation, I just stayed home all day long, surfed Internet, listened to music and of course slept. Also, I tried to read some extra Korean books, but I found it the most boring one among what I did. How can I manage to do so for the rest of my vacation? I prefer to study. Now if I was studying as usual, I would gain more knowledges about Korean language, wouldn't I? What should I do, then? So bored and soon I will become stressful. Help me please ! ! !

World Food Festival

It appears to be strange to me that every university here has its own festival every season. Particularly, my university has just prepared a one-week festival last week. I didn't know what the festival's name is but it's kind of interesting. In the university campus, there were many boothes which served many kinds of Korean foods and drinks. Plus, there were many joyful games available in the campus. At night, there was also a wonderful concert, in which of course, the famous singers in Korea, The Super Junior and The Girl Generation, performed. however, I missed it, poor me. In addition, during the festival, the school also prepared a program, namely world food festival, for international students. Thus, all students from different countries had to make their own food and sell it. There were, of course, many different boothes which served many different food on that day. We, Cambodian students, joined this special occasion too. Do you guys know what kind of foods we made and sold? It was គុយទាវ . I didn't know whether or not it was delicious because I didn't try it too. Anyway, we really got many customers and they also appreciated our គុយទាវ . Really interesting !

Finish !!!

Level 1 Ended

Ah! just can't believe it! Eventually, I finished level 1 of Korean language training, and I have also been living in Korea for two months. I don't know if time slowly or quickly flies. To me, talking about the course, I think time really flies so fast, but talking about living here, I think time does fly slowly. Last weekend, I was so so busy revising for my final examination so I could do nothing, except staying home all day and preparing for the coming exam. Phew, my exam days were over. Really relieved now ! In addition, I am gonna have three weeks off before starting another new course. Ah! what am I going to spend time on for this very long vacation? Going to Cambodia is good but it is too early to go there. Thus, probably gonna stay home again and prepare for the new challenging course. Back to my level-1 course, I really satisfies what I got from this beginning course. I never forget the first-day situation of living here; I knew nothing about Korean language. But now I am able to communicate with Korean people. In fact, not really good enough but at least, with a help form their gestures, I can understand what they are saying. Also, I am able to read and wirte Korean language. Overall, I think I learned much form the course . Anyway, really thank to my Korean teachers, who were always beside me, encouraged me and even pushed me to be who I am right now.

Cambodian Exhibition in Seoul

Now, in Korea there is a special event, namely Hi Seoul, which is celebrated for the whole week. There are many interesting programs in this unique event. Traditional Exhibition, which was organized yesterday, is also one among the programs scheduled in the event. In this program, all the embassies in Korea are required to show their own traditional souvenirs and foods. Particularly, Cambodia embassy also joined the exhibition. Given two boothes- one booth for souvenirs and one booth for food, We did show and sell many of our traditional souvenirs and our delicious khmer foods. For traditional souvenirs, we had shirts, bag, paintings, and so on. For Khmer foods, we served khmer noodle, beef and sweet. Plus, there were many people who tried our foods and bought our traditional souvenirs from the early morning until the evening. A bit tired, of course, but enjoyed this so much. Next year hope to make it much better than this.

Parents Day

You guys may feel unfamiliar to hear the phrase "Parents Day" since we don't have Parents Day in our country, Cambodia, but it is a common celebration in other countries. some countries don't have Parents Day too, but instead they have either Mother Day or Father Day, which is not really different from Parents Day in the way they celebrate it. Parents Day, which is celebrated every year, is also one of common celebrations in Korea. Today is Parents Day in Korea. In this occasion, children are supposed to show love to their parents by giving them a bunch of flowers. That's why I could see many flowers available in many places even in my university campus. Plus, today I saw some students walking with flowers in their hands in the campus. Anyway, it looked kinda cool !

CSCS Launching

CSCS, Cambodia Student Community in Seoul, is the name of our community which has just been launched so as to work on various projects for benefits of Cambodian students as well as Cambodia. Right now, our community of which Mr. Taing Mengeang, a current student at Yonsei University, is a president, consists of 19 members coming from different universities in Republic of South Korea. Everyone can freely join our committee and cheerfully works together toward our common destination. Plus, members will have so much fun joining CSCS due to some special events arranged by CSCS, and everyone will get a chance to know many people especially Cambodian students in Korea. Last week we also had a very first get-together to discuss about our community launching, some approaching events and what we plan to do for our new CSCS at the Cambodian Embassy in Korea. Finally, we successfully reached a decision on what CSCS has to do and will do. Now, we already made it so we are trying our best to succeed in our fresh committee.

Cultural Class

Ah! After very very long busy days, yesterday I got one day off because of Cultural Class, and soon I will also get another day off because of Children Day. Really nice ! ! ! Due to Cultual Class, yesterday my school prepared a school trip for students to cultural place known as Namsan in order that we could learn about some Korean culture. Also, it was my first time that I travelled to Seoul by bus which I hate very much ! I am trying my best to avoid taking bus as possible as I can. Despite what I supposed to happen after taking a bus, I did manage to have a very nice time with my classmate there even on the bus. Plus, we had a chance to wear traditional Korean cloth - 한복 - for a very short time. This trip was cool anyway, wasn't it? Lolzz...
